How much does Midjourney Cost?

Midjourney is a subscription-based platform, but the cost of using it depends on your needs and usage.

Midjourney offers three subscription tiers with the option to pay either on a monthly basis or for the entire year at a 20% discounted rate. Membership to any plan includes access to the Midjourney member gallery and official Discord channel.

The basic plan starts at $8 and gives 3.3 hours of Fast Time each month. Fast Time is preferential processing for your prompts. If you run out of fast time, it doesn't stop you from using Midjourney, it just means your images will take longer to render. In my experience, Fast Time prompts take around 1 - 2 minutes to fully render, while 'Relaxed' time can take 5 - 15 minutes to run.

How to use Midjourney?

Before we begin discussing how to get started with Midjourney, I want to clarify that while it may not be the most user-friendly AI image-creation tool, it is, in my opinion, the best. Therefore, it is worth persevering through the convoluted signup process and a difficult-to-use interface.

To begin using Midjourney, you need to have a verified Discord account. Midjourney uses Discord, which is a free message board server, to run its AI tool.

So before you can create your first A.I. image, you'll need a Discord account (https://discord.com/register), and then you can head over to www.midjourney.com, sign in with your Discord account details and sign up for a plan.

Once you've battled through this sign-up process, you can start creating your images. Before you can make your first masterpiece, you'll need to add the Midjourney server to your Discord (I did say it wasn't easy!).

Now you're almost ready, the final step is finding a 'Channel'; this is where the AI interacts with you; once in a Channel, you can start using /image Prompts to generate your art pieces.

Note: Please don't be discouraged by the baffling sign-up process and difficult-to-navigate interface. The results are worth it, trust me!
